Shohei Yamamoto
BIOGRAPHY
Shohei Yamamoto
Shohei Yamamoto was born in 1994 and graduated with a master’s degree from Kyoto University of the Arts.
In the modern world, which is full of digital replicas, Yamamoto utilizes his own roller to fix and expose the repetition process of images and symbols in an analog way. He uses digital software to simulate the size of panels and the diameter of the roller, creating simulated images on canvas. The self-made roller is his characteristic tool, delivering temporality and betraying simulation. As the roller moves across the canvas, the paint is crushed, and the images and symbols are attenuated with each repetition.
In the present circumstance, where every representation, such as images and symbols, is replicated by digital operations, Yamamoto makes actual substances float up in their repetition process to analogize them.
